Jock Rock #12 : Delight From Dundee

Danny Wilson with Mary's Prayer from the album Meet Danny Wilson.

Possibly the nicest sound to ever come out of Dundee this track is pure aural gold.

Following the break up of the band vocalist Gary Clark went on to have a successful songwriting and production career working with artists such as Natalie Imbruglia and Liz Phair amongst others.

An absolute belting classic of a pop single. Great melody & fantastic lyrics sung by a very good vocalist.

Yes - a brilliant song.

Do you remember about 1992 or so that the BBC's Burns Night show featured contemporary Scottish bands doing Burns songs - it included Deacon Blue 'Green Grow the Rashes', Michael Marra, Big Country "Killiecrankie" etc - and Gary Clark doing a quite breathtaking version of 'My Love Is Like a Red Red Rose' ?
